Teaching With Comics Conference

Reading With Pictures, the most trusted source for knowledge about the impact of comics and graphic novels for empowerment, learning, and lifelong joy, presents TEACHING WITH COMICS, a FREE three-day professional development event for the comics curious and manga masters — and everyone in between! Join us August 9-11, 2021!

Equip your teaching toolbox with resources, printable posters, and lesson plans to integrate comic books, graphic novels, manga, political cartoons — and so much more! — into your instruction next school year. Join us for a kickoff keynote on August 9 by the one and only Dr. Lee Francis IV, educator, poet, activist, and comic creator.

Get ready for three days of live and prerecorded expert panels! Topics include:

  • research and rationale supporting the use of comics and graphic novels in education
  • using comics to teach inference and STEM subjects
  • comic creation for strengthening literacy skills, social emotional learning, and assessment
  • convincing administrators, parents, and other educators that comics, graphic novels, and manga have educational value and are real reading

Hop into live workshops and networking events, where you can exchange ideas with other teachers and librarians and ask questions of our education experts.

Watch this space, join the mailing list, and follow us on social media to be notified as soon as registration goes live!

We’re working hard on a website update and organizational relaunch, and we would love for you to join us to kick it all off at Reading With Pictures Presents: Teaching With Comics, August 9-11, 2021!
