It’s back to school and I was reading that!

As pencils are being sharpened and lunch boxes are being packed, we agree with Reading With Pictures’ contributor David Roman that comic books are the “real” deal as educational materials. Everyone should be shouting “I was reading that!” when it comes to comic books!

Reading With Pictures is working on some important projects to ensure that our dream of comic books being taken seriously an educational tool continues to grow all across the United States. We know this is how kids will start learning in a way that is both engaging and fun.  Here are just a few things we’re working on that you can support:

  • The Graphic Textbook is on its way by the end of 2013! We’re finishing up the layout and lesson plans and a digital version will be ready by the end of the year and physical copes being mailed out shortly after that.
  • We’ll be once again hosting Comics Out Loud!, a day focused on bringing comics in the classroom. And with your support we’ll be able to mail out packets to educators and librarians!  Last year we had over 300 participants in this one of a kind event.
  • Our brand new website has over 100 resources for educators and librarians to start downloading. And its all free thanks to our generous supporters.

That’s why we need your help. We need you to stand with us in taking comic books in the classroom seriously.  Educators all over the country have joined with us but it is with allies like yourself that we’ll make this a reality. With your support of only $10 (or more!) we can make the dream of bringing comics into the classroom happen in classrooms all across the US.  Click the button below to show your support!
